Consistent Branding Builds Loyalty

We all crave consistency in our daily lives. It’s a fact. When you walk into the grocery store, you want your favorite coffee grounds to be stocked and stored at the same place they were during your last visit. When you open your camera roll, you want the last pictures you took on your phone to be in your ‘Recents’ album. When you go home after a long day from work, you want the same key you used to lock your door to also work to unlock your door. When things are not consistent, however, we often times are left feeling bothered and frustrated by the failure of having our expectations not met.

As this is a human dilemma we all face, successful businesses know that in order to create pleasurable experiences for their customers that will keep them returning to their brand requires demonstrating consistency, time and time again. With so much competition out there, if something disrupts your customer’s interaction with your brand, even once, they will be more willing to take their business elsewhere and you can wave goodbye to any brand loyalty you had.

Utilizing brand consistency as a critical foundation for your business doesn’t have to be as complicated as it sounds. Think of the brands you usually purchase from. You make purchase decisions based off of brands you know and trust. You rely on companies that can fulfill your needs and when businesses can meet those demands by delivering a consistent positive experience throughout the multiple touchpoints of the buyer’s journey, customers have no reason to look in the direction of your competition. Take time to prioritize understanding what satisfies your customers needs and focus your strategy on that. When you consistently deliver the quality and value of your product or service through meeting, and exceeding, your customer’s experience, your brand becomes more dependable.

It’s important to note that consistently building loyalty doesn’t only rely on delivering products and/or services that always exceed your customer’s expectations. Your brand recognition and authenticity relies on also maintaining a consistent brand image. In order to drive a consumer’s connection to your brand, you want to use messaging that gives customers a feeling of familiarity every time they engage with you. You want your marketing materials such as your emails, webpage, social content, etc. to be consistently branded so that your business can subconsciously resonate with consumers. In a crowded market, your marketing efforts can make you stand out and differentiate yourself from the competition in more ways than you know. Consistent color schemes, visuals, messaging and presentation can play a huge role in making your brand recognizable to customers.  Misusage of your brand image can cause confusion which is why it’s essential that you make the effort to create and communicate consistent brand guidelines to engage consumer’s trust and fuel customer loyalty.
