CDBX 2026 Takeaways

There’s a lot you can learn from the numbers. But sometimes, the most valuable insights come from sitting across the table and talking through what those numbers actually mean.

That’s what makes CDBX valuable for our team.

CDBX 2026 gave Cheyenne International the opportunity to sit down one-on-one with our distributor partners, take a closer look at the business, and have candid conversations about what they’re seeing in their markets. We talked about what’s working, where challenges exist, and most importantly, where we see opportunities to keep moving forward together.

Now that another CDBX is in the books, here are a few takeaways we’re bringing back with us.

1. The Numbers Tell a Story — But Not the Whole Story

Every market is different.

Performance data can show us where a business stands, but our distributor partners help provide the context behind it. What are retailers asking for? Where is competition increasing? What products are gaining traction? Where could there be an untapped opportunity?

Bringing those two perspectives together gives us a much clearer picture of what’s happening at the local level and helps us focus on opportunities that make sense for that specific market.

2. Value Remains an Important Part of the Conversation

Value continues to play a key role in the tobacco category, making it increasingly important to understand where adult consumer demand is shifting.

But those shifts don’t necessarily look the same everywhere.

Our conversations at CDBX reinforced the importance of looking at value opportunities market by market. Understanding local demand and working with our distributor partners to identify where those opportunities exist can help ensure retailers have access to products that meet the needs of their adult tobacco customers.

3. Getting on the Shelf Is Only the Beginning

Distribution matters. What happens next matters just as much.

Getting the right products into the right markets creates the opportunity, but continued movement at retail requires execution. That means looking beyond distribution numbers to understand where there may be gaps, where additional retailer support could help, and where the sales opportunity can go next.

The goal isn’t simply to get product into the market. It’s to help create the conditions for that product to perform once it gets there.

4. Local Insight Makes the Bigger Picture Better

Our distributor partners know their markets.

They’re talking with retailers, watching competitive activity, and seeing changes at the local level firsthand. Cheyenne brings another perspective through product performance, category trends, and insights gathered across our broader footprint.

CDBX gives us the chance to put those perspectives side by side.

And when we do, we can ask better questions, uncover opportunities we may not have seen from the numbers alone, and make more informed decisions about where to focus next.

5. The Most Important Part Comes Next

A good CDBX meeting shouldn’t end when everyone leaves the room.

The real value comes from what happens afterward.

We’re leaving CDBX 2026 with new ideas to explore, opportunities to pursue, and a better understanding of how we can continue supporting our distributor partners and the retailers they serve.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with the Cheyenne International team this year. We appreciate the candid conversations, valuable feedback, and continued partnership.

Now it’s time to turn those conversations into action.
